Introduction

A new breed of law enforcers can be found at Station Number 9 of the Southern California Police Department. Newly inducted Rookies Willie Gillis, Terry Webster, Mike Danko and Chris Owens are reluctant to use their firearms in their daily battle to keep the streets of California safe for the citizens. They prefer a nonviolent and more humane approach which proves to be more challenging as well as successful but often puts them at odds with their hard-nosed commander Lieutenant Ryker. Though constantly at odds with their superior, the three wet-behind-the-ears recruits proved that there's more to being a good cop than toting a gun.

That was the premise of one of the most popular TV series of the 70s. Produced by Aaron Spelling and Leonard Goldberg. The Rookies stars Sam Melville as Mike Danko, Michael Ontkean (Twin Peaks) as Willie Gillis, and Georg Stanford Brown (Roots) as Terry Webster. They portray three young and handsome new police officers learning to protect and serve the public under the watchful guidance of Gerald S. O'Loughlin as Lt. Ed Ryker. Also starring is Kate Jackson as Jill, a practicing nurse married to Mike Danko. The Rookies depict the personal and professional adjustments officers make as they embark on their careers and focus on the dramatic police cases they are assigned.

The Rookies on DVD

At last some good news for all the Rookies fans. The series, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary, arrives on DVD featuring all 23 episodes in a five-disc boxed set. It will be available for $49.95 SRP. Bruce Fairbairn Latest Site Additions

The Rookies Online is brand new with lots of new and rare stuff. Read a very rare and interesting Interview on Bruce Fairbairn from 1975. New rare photos added in all the Galleries. Check the Bruce Fairbairn Gallery for some new rare publicity and candid photos. Also read a Rare and Interesting article on Bruce Fairbairn and check some new Rookies photos. Stay tuned for some great captures of "The Assassin" and "Death Watch". These episodes are available on DVD (I finally managed to transfer the 16 mm original films to DVD) so don't hesitate to contact me. Much more to come soon, so visit often.

As the Rookies have never been (unfortunately) officially released on vhs or DVD (with the exception of the 1st season that will be soon released on DVD) and are rarely viewed on TV (luckily TV Land showed the first 35 episodes) the Rookies fans and collectors worldwide trade vhs videos and 16mm films to acquire these rare episodes.
